"志ん板 うつしゑ"
[Illustrator not identified].
[Tōkyō : Tsujikame-ban, ca. early to mid Meiji period (1875-1895)].
An utsushi-e (projection picture) of 53 silhouettes of people and animals. People in varying professions are pictured, including a jinrikisha (cart-puller), a samurai, and a walking salesman. Children and a variety of animals are also featured, as is a woman in Western dress. This print, produced by Tsunashima Kamekichi, was probably originally one of a series of similar silhouette prints by the publisher.
Printed on very thin paper, and with some tears to the margins, but nevertheless an interesting work portraying an array of different Meiji period professions through the medium of silhouettes.
One leaf. Browning to extremities. A few small ink marks to margins. Several tears to extremities. Overall good only. 35.2 x 24.3 cm. Text in Japanese.
