A 'collage' kuchi-e (frontispiece) by Sensai Eikō (1868-1933), featuring what the artist believed to be the first illustration by Nishikawa Sukenobu, a portrait of Chikamatsu Monzaemon, and illustrations by famed author Santō Kyōden and artist Ukiyo Matabei. The location of the folds in the woodblock print identify it as a kuchi-e, but the book in which it appeared remains unidentified.
One leaf, complete. Light chipping, several stains and creases. 22.4 x 30 cm.
