An early Japanese translation of poems by Edgar Allan Poe. The translator, Wakameda, also helped to produce a Japanese translation of The Merchant of Venice in 1913 and an English translation of the Tsurezuregusa ("Essays in Idleness") in 1914. This work includes a preface by Wakameda on the distinctive qualities of Poe's poems.
One volume, complete. Original boards, extremities worn, small white stains, cracked. Ex-ownership inscriptions to upper pastedown and front free endpaper. Sticker removals to lower free endpaper. Minor internal browning and marks. Manuscript notes to blank page facing colophon and first page of ads. Very occasional foxing. 135 p. 15.3 x 10.9 cm.
