Zuan hyakudai ["Designs on one hundred themes"]

Ogino, Issui [illustrated by].

Kyōto: Honda Ichijirō; Gōmei Gaisha Unsōdō, Meiji 43 [1910].

A complete set of three volumes of striking designs of animals, landscapes, people, flowers, and plants with a strong neo-Rinpa flavour by Ogino Issui. These three copies were previously owned by a clothing department of an unknown company, suggesting Issui's patterns were made into textiles at some point.

Three concertina-bound (orihon) volumes, complete. Original boards, browned, extremities chipped, a few scratches, ex-ownership stickers to upper boards. Small loss to paper covering lower board of volume one. Occasional small marks, light foxing, minor creases, offsetting, and oxidisation to leaves. Fading to gutter. Lacks folding case. Unpaged. 27.2 x 19.4 cm.
