[Japan: publisher unidentified, ca. early Meiji period (1860-70s?)].
An untitled album of ten colour woodblockprinted illustrations of plants, flowers, animals, people, and landscapes. Among the artists are bunjinga painter Fukushima Ryūho (1819(?)-1889), nanga painter Taki Katei (1830-1901), nihonga painter Shibata Zeshin (1807-1891), Satake Eiko (1835-1909), Fukushima Chikaharu (1811-1882), possibly Tōdō Ryōun (1809-1886), and two unidentified artists ("Rinsei" and "Zuika"?). Katei and Ryūho each provide two illustrations for the album. Overall, three of the illustrations are vertical and the rest, horizontal. A lovely album of works by skilled bunjinga, nanga, and nihonga artists, sensitively printed on mica-treated paper.

Occasional browning and small tears to extremities. Small ex-ownership note to lower pastedown. Housed in non-original slipcase, with a daisen title slip reading Shashin kachō-zue. Unpaginated. 21.5 x 15.5 cm.
