An album of woodblock-printed examples of the handwriting and name seals of the artist and poet Rai San'yō (1780-1832), the politician Sakuma Shōzan (1811-1864), and the scholar Fujita Tōko (1806-1855), with short biographies of these important figures. The book includes a transcription of the handwritten pieces into kanbun, with furigana (rubi) and reading order diacritics given.
One six-hole-bound (kōkitoji) volume, complete, on double leaves, traditional East Asian binding style (fukurotoji). Insect damage to original wrappers professionally repaired. Original mounted daisen title panel present. Small wormholes to text, mainly to first and last few leaves. A few minor marks to textblock head. [2, 33, 9 unnumbered leaves]. 19.7 x 11.8 cm.
