A flower emerges from a hanging ceramic vase laid on the ground. Ka'an (Kita) Busei (1776-1857) was a nanga painter born in Edo. He studied under Tani Bunchō and was a friend of Watanabe Kazan, Kyokutei Bakin, Kuwagata Keisai (Kitao Masayoshi), and other important artists and writers.
One ōbōsho surimono, complete. Folds, browning, stains, occasional marks, and general wear. Small wormholes to head. Washi paper repair to central crease on verso. Full-leaf washi mounting to verso also. 34.2 x 52.8 cm.
