Issue One of the magazine Shin zuan, featuring ten full-page colour woodblock-printed patterns of plants, flowers, and landscapes. The magazine was published by the Gonikai, a group of Kyoto-based design enthusiasts. The name of each artist is recorded on each print's verso. Acclaimed artists Kamisaka Sekka, Kaigai Tennen, Tabata Kakudō, and Tanaka Gekkō are among the contributors. Several of the prints feature karazuri blind-embossing and the use of metallic pigments.

 

Issue One. One stab-bound (musubitoji) volume, presumed complete, on double leaves, traditional East Asian binding style (fukurotoji). Wear, discolouration, chipping, and marks to original wrappers. Browning and occasional creases and marks internally. [12 leaves]. 23.7 x 16.3 cm.
