A woodblock-printed compilation of illustrations of beautiful women from famous artists including (but not limited to) Toyokuni, Kuniyoshi, Hiroshige, Hokusai, Utamaro, Eisen, Tsunenobu, Yoshitada, Kōsen, Moronobu, and Ōkyo. The leaf was printed as an appendix to the first issue of the Tsūshin Shinbun newspaper. The text printed in red in the centre of the leaf records that the designs were copied from Bijutsu Sekai magazine. A helpful guide to the unique styles of renowned Japanese artists. 

 

Single leaf, woodblock-printed on one side, complete. Folds, creases, and light browning. 38.8 x 52.3 cm.
