A re-titled and re-packaged edition of Shirase Nobu's Nankyoku Tanken published during wartime. This copy is from the third edition, printed less than six months after the first edition and within two weeks of the second edition. Somewhat confusingly, the re-titled work is often referred to as the "second edition" of Shirase's Nankyoku Tanken. Copies with the original obi are particularly scarce.

One Western-bound volume, complete. Original wrappers somewhat browned, foxed, and worn, with chips to extremities. Small repair to upper right corner of upper wrapper. Two small dents to lower wrapper, carrying over to lower endpaper and last ten leaves or so of text. Sticker removals to endpapers. Graze to textblock fore-edge. Occasional marks, foxing, and browning to text and illustrations. [16 p. of photographic illustrations + 1 fold-out map], 8, 422 p. 18.1 x 12.7 cm.
