An adaptation of the Japanese folktale Hanasaka Jiisan (The Old Man Who Made the Withered Trees Bloom) for a Central European audience, illustrated with charming lithographs by Czech sculptor Ladislav Šaloun (1870-1946). An inscription on the fly-leaf indicates this copy was previously owned by a worker at the Japanese Embassy of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (CSSR).
One four-hole-bound (yotsumetoji) volume, complete, on double leaves, traditional East Asian binding style (fukurotoji). Original wrappers worn, stained, and creased. Creases to leaves, most prominently to centre. Occasional stains and foxing internally. Some tears and creases to extremities. Ex-ownership notes to upper fly. 26 p. 29 x 18.5 cm. Text in Czech.
