A selection of five prints from Toyohara Kunichika's Otokodate Jūnin-zoroi (Ten Chivalrous Men), a ten-print series portraying leading kabuki actors as famous otokodate, the gallant commoners of Edo popular fiction who were celebrated for their bravery, loyalty, and defiance of corrupt authority. In these five prints Kunichika portrays Iwai Shijaku II as Unryū Kurō, Nakamura Shikan IV as Inaba Kōzō, Ichimura Izaemon XIII as Kogitsune Reiza, Bandō Hikosaburō V as Kumokiri Nizaemon, and Bandō Mitsugorō VI as Kintoki Kozō Toramatsu. All are shown wearing matching iris-patterned yukata. An eye-catching series by Kunichika in vibrant orange and deep blue hues. 

Five ōban tate-e from a series of ten, each woodblock-printed on one side. Trimming and a few small marks to paper. Wear and light wormholing to extremities. Each print measures approximately 35 x 24.2 cm.
