A charming stencil-printed work by Kamisaki Sunao (1932–) exploring the theme of time, pairing quotations from influential Western figures—including Shakespeare, Leonardo da Vinci, Balzac, and Beethoven—with striking ex libris designs. The work was limited to 42 numbered copies; this is a bangai copy, an unnumbered copy or artist's proof. Kamisaki's longstanding fascination with the concept of time is reflected in several of his other stencil-printed works, perhaps most notably the three-volume Wadokei (Japanese Clocks), published in Shōwa 58 (1983).
